STM: Jim – are you ready? JIM: I was born ready Mark…lol
STM: Are you thinking outside the box these days? Not using clichés…
JIM: A great salesman always thinks outside the box!
STM: But in the end you couldn’t sell yourself… what are you going to do now? Become a trappist monk? Has the word heard enough of you?
JIM: I’m delighted to have reached The Apprentice Final & grateful for the opportunities it has given me to develop my passions for public speaking & sales.
STM: Have you turned into a robot?
JIM: You must be thinking of R2-D2…but the force is still strong with Jedi Jim!
STM: Do you regard yourself as sensitive, creative, intelligent – or a total plonker?
JIM: All four at any given time – my wife would love to answer that one! I’d say well-rounded…
STM: Is Northern Ireland staring into the abyss of sectarianism again?
JIM: We’ve come so far since the height of The Troubles, and long may it continue. The future for The Land of the Golfing Giants is bright!
STM: Yes but how do you explain the recent spate of shootings and bombings… not of course that you’re personally responsible.
JIM: Unfortunately no country is exempt from violence - look at Norway…devastating. The vast majority in NI are doing great things though!
STM: Do you think that the Apprentice serves any useful purpose in encouraging entrepreneurs? Or is it just entertainment?
JIM: Both - it makes entrepreneurship accessible to the masses and, most importantly, inspires young people. It’s some craic too, though!
STM: But isn’t it all made-for-TV. The rows, the personalities.. and do you really live together, Big Brother style?
JIM: Yes, I was living with 15 other big personalities who were also there to win. It was really intense, but such a fantastic experience!
STM: Are you still in your old job?
JIM: Once a salesman, always a salesman, but I’m also enjoying being able to develop the other entrepreneurial strings to my bow (cliché!).
STM: Why use a cliché when a sentence will do?
JIM: As I said in The Interviews, I’m working on getting better at that.
STM: What would do about the deficit? Do you think public spending in Northern Ireland spiralled out of control?
JIM: We need to grow the NI economy, particularly in the private sector, and the way to do that is by promoting and fostering entrepreneurship.
STM: Why don’t you go into PR? Do you ever lose it?
JIM: We all have our moments, don’t we? My outlet is sport though, and that keeps me fairly upbeat!
STM: Do you care much about money? To what extent was the £250k tempting?
JIM: It was very tempting - who wouldn’t love to win £250k?! But Lord Sugar’s “Greatest Salesman in the World” certificate softened the blow!
STM: Aren’t you just a bit too slick?
JIM: Is that a compliment? Thanks!
